Applying for ROTC

For that reason I recommend being interviewed at your first choice program. That way your interviewer will have a vested interest in the outcome.

I've compared myself to the review sheet that you linked to me and in all the areas, I will get the most amount of points possible (On the athletics sections and extra curricular). But some of the things I looked at were just rough estimations for myself.

Also looking at some of the other sections where I get scored, I just realized the importance of having a good interview. It seems to me that the person interviewing can decide your whole fate regarding ROTC and a scholarship.

I am also looking to apply to West Point, but that goes in a different section.

^^^
That's a whole different ballgame, I was cadre at Camp Buckner in 1980
but I know nothing about the application process there.
Seems that juggling an AROTC app and an app to USMA is a much discussed
topic. "Will ROTC see me as less serious" etc...

I am just looking at all my options, but one other thing I am considering is joining active duty and then getting my college payed for by the military. I know the North Georgia College and University has a National Guard unit on campus and that could be an option.

That would be joining SMP...
Anywhere that offers AROTC offers SMP
(it's not 'Active Duty')

Your stats sound real good, keep SMP in the back of your mind (plan 'C'),
work on USMA or AROTC. (plans 'A&B') Keep the faith, it's a long haul.

Applying For ROTC Scholarship

Over 2,000 applicants have already completed at least 1 section of the ROTC Scholarship. If you have not started your application yet, you are already behind the power curve.

I am heading into my Junior year. I thought you apply for ROTC when you are going into your senior year?

I missed the part about you being a rising junior. You are then 10 months ahead of schedule. I recommend that you use that time to visit the schools that you are interested in. It will be helpful to narrow down your choices during Junior year. Ideally you will take the SAT early in your Spring Semester and send the results to colleges that you have already visited. This gives you time to retake it later in the Semester in the event you did not do as well as you would have liked. You should complete most of your ROTC application by 4 JUL and then schedule your interview at your top choice program by 10 AUG. ROTC Scholarship application should be completed by 15 AUG. You should complete the college applications for your top 4 choices by 15 SEP. Apply ED or EA to your top choice.

So in Junior Year, all I can do is visit the colleges I am interested, work on my SAT and/or ACT scores and stay good in school and sports?

Do I start my application for ROTC as soon as Junior year ends or when I am coming up to the end of junior year?

Yep, all you can do is get a 4.0 GPA, score a 36 on your ACT, Letter in a couple sports, make team captain in a sport, maybe get elected to student government, do a little community service, get in shape for the PT test, research and visit colleges... :thumb:

Did I leave out cure cancer?

Best of luck, stay in touch, enjoy your summer.

Sadly, I forgot about one more thing to ask.

I signed up for American English which is basically the standard Junior level english. I am pretty decent at english and my alternative was AP english, I am thinking of switching to AP english, but should I do it?

Yes, if you are willing to work to get a solid 'A'
If it's going to hurt your GPA, not a good idea.
