The west point website says that applications open in 'mid-december.' Does anyone know of a more exact date for when I can open a file?

Also, is it correct that I have to wait until my second semester to actually apply to usma? Or just mid-december as well? Thanks in advance for your help!

I think last year it was Dec 14; so my guess is around that.

If you apply to SLS you would have a file open with USMA but the application process for the Class opens spring.

Can someone verify? I usually don't answer the direct USMA q's.

I applied on December 15th for SLS and I'm pretty sure that was the very first day possible. The online forms you fill out and put your activities, test scores, etc. on are verified if/when you actually apply. Applying for SLS essentially opens your file at USMA.

The actual application process opened on June 15th this year.

Pretty much exactly what was said above. It's rolling admissions though so do it all the night of! Just because the applications don't open until mid december/ june, doesn't mean you should wait until then to put together your entire resume, etc.
One thing that's pretty big concerning the application (when the time comes) is the teacher recs. You don't want to be stuck waiting on them. A few weeks before the application opens, make sure to warn your teachers about it. They'll have a bit of work ahead of them concerning that as well as the nomination recommendations!

The SLS 2010 applications opened on 14 December. I applied around 8am on the 14th for it and was accepted on the 16th. I recieved the acceptance letter between Christmas and New Years. It's the start of a long process for you and it is a great feeling to finally be an official candidate! Good luck for those applying to SLS 2011

thanks for the answers!
One more question though: In the application, I know you have to submit PSAT scores. If I took the test both sophomore and junior years, can I send either application, or just the junior one? I haven't gotten the results back from the one i took this year, so I'm not sure which one will have higher scores.

My experience has been that they will update scores pretty quick if you ask them to as well as other aspects of the application for both SS and the actual application. You can submit whatever year scores you'd like.

That's a good question. Does West Point superscore PSAT scores too, anyone?

I just finished applying to AFA's SS and they do allow super scoring. It said so right on the application. I suppose we shall find out if West Point is the same but I would think so.

It seems strange that you would need to superscore PSAT because you can only take it once a year. I think superscoring refers only to ACT/SAT, but I could be wrong. I'd call admissions on that one though if it is that much of a worry. Good luck with the app :thumb:

Yeah I wouldn't think super scoring PSATs is thought of alot, but there's always that strange case. I haven't got my new scores for this year but I would find it weird if I went down.
