Hello! I received a call from my congresswoman on Friday the 12th saying that I had received an appointment (yay!). However, this morning I had a letter on my portal stating that my waiver request had been denied. Has anyone ever had this happen? Do you think there’s still a possibility of appointment if there was a mix-up or something? I’ve been in contact with my congresswoman’s office and they’re looking into it, but was curious if anyone had ever had this happen.

Why not go right to USAFA points of contact to ask? Fastest way to sort out if you have been offered an appointment or not, or if there is a data error somewhere.

I am sort of in the same situation. Yesterday I received a call from my MOC saying I would be receiving a conditional offer of appointment, but my medical wavier has not been approved yet. I guess we will wait and see!

I’m in the same boat but for NAPS. From what I’ve heard, theyre pretty much saving you a spot contingent of receiving a medical waiver.

Hopefully it is a data input error -- the waiver authority might have accidentally picked Waiver Denied instead of Waiver Granted :) Or it could be a data entry error by DoDmerb side if they manually update the portal based on the WA's decision. Just a speculation -- no idea how communication is carried out between DoDmerb and WAs.

Just wondering: I got a conditional appointment (yay!) but my Dodmerb is still in processing. I am not sure if I will be Q or DQ tbh (like no idea), but I am guessing USAFA will be offering a waiver in the worst-case scenario correct?

It is always a good idea to have a plan B. Make sure to get you AMI (if requested) submitted asap.

Same for me. I just got my official letter this morning from USAFA saying that I was awarded an appointment, but that it’s “conditional until [they] receive confirmation from DODMERB that am medically qualified.” I have minor things that I need to get waivers for. USAFA has already begun my waiver request process and I am sending my medical records as soon as I get them in the mail. Any input on the likelihood of my still being admitted even though I still haven’t finished my process?

Thanks!

Just to update everyone: so my appointment is contingent on getting a waiver and unfortunately for some reason my waiver was denied. My congresswoman did not inform me of this contingency when she called so obviously I got my hopes very very high and thought everyone was fine. I will be submitting an appeal to the waiver review board but that is really all I can do, it’s kind of out of my hands. Thanks for all the responses.

Take a deep breath, pursue until the last option is expended, keep tending alternate plans. If the answer is “no,” seek to find out if this condition is also likely to be unwaiverable on the AFROTC path. The standards are the same, but waiver policies may differ. Or not. You may also want to consider another Service, if the waiver policy is different.

If you find out your path to military service is blocked, there are other options for service for the country, just not in uniform. Early days for that, but keep us posted on good news and bad. This is a supportive community.

Thank you! I am trying to remain calm and have already submitted an appeal. I will be pursuing all paths possible and will keep this thread updated.
