Appointment Package?

I was fortunate enough to receive a full appointment to the USCGA for the class of 2028 back on March 6. I filled out the form in the decision letter the morning of March 6th and once I submitted, it said I should receive the appointment package within 10-14 days. It's now the 14th day, and have not yet received the package. I know I'm likely unnecessarily worried, but does anyone know if the 10-14 days is business days (only counts M-F), or if it includes weekends. I know USCGA was on Spring Leave last week as well, so that may delay everything by a week even.

How long should I give it before I reach out to check in? Thanks all!

I'd give until the middle of next week and then shoot your AO an email checking on it.

Congratulations and good luck!!

Biggest congratulations! I am not sure, but please update us when you find out - There will likely be more in your shoes here soon!

They can take longer than 14 days. Give it a week and if you don't see anything reach out to an AO.

Congratulations! The appointment package, includes an official certificate of appointment, signed personally by the Superintendent RA Michael Johnston, therefore depending on his schedule to sign it, and then staff availability to compile the rest of packet and mail it, it could take longer. Especially, right now when appointments are down to the wire, and acceptances and declines are pouring in, which makes for a lot of additional administration work, and work for the appointment committee, as they fill the final slots. In the meantime you can look at the paperwork requirements for the C/O 2027, packing list, immunizations, etc. Then you are prepared when you packet does arrive. https://uscga.edu/admissions/incoming-class/

Congratulations! My son got a full appointment on Friday, 3/2/24 and filled out and submitted the acceptance letter the next day. He has also not received his official packet but his portal was updated with an acceptance letter.

Just wanted to check if your son has received his package yet? Nothing here yet unfortunately. I reached out to admissions but didn't get a reply; I have to assume they're super busy with getting all the final appointments sent out!

No! We have not received it yet!

So is the packet in addition to the items on the website? Or are they duplicates? Was wondering if they might have more instructions or who we might reach out to with questions if we can't get a response by email. Feeling kind of in the dark here and worried about making doctors appointments fit in before 6/1 no knowing what we might need them for. I wish they were having some sort of zoom where you could ask questions. Has anyone heard about anything like that?

I had the same questions. The packet is an official appointment that comes in a nice binder. There are a few to-dos included around proving US Citizenship/Eligibility. The bulk of the paperwork will be associated with the forms on-line at the Class of 2028 page (which is still being updated). There is a fingerprinting and security clearance component as well. My DS's AO reached out via email to him about that after the appointment had been accepted. It was not included in the packet. I cant figure out how to link a thread but there is one where I had similar questions: "What Happens Next"

Yes, appointment package gets mailed to your house. Appointment letter and certificate in a fancy binder. There are papers to complete to officially accept your appointment which you'll mail back along with your (actual, not a copy) birth certificate and (actual, not a copy) SS card.

All enrollment paperwork is online on the 2028 page and you can start working on it. Warning - I'm not sure if last year was an anomaly, but communication/instruction was pretty much non-existent. In fact, the email to the appointees inviting them to complete the enrollment didn't get sent out until AFTER the June 1 deadline!! If you have questions on forms, there is often contact info on the form itself, or contact AO, or feel free to shoot me a DM. I paid close attention when my daughter was completing her stuff last year and am pretty familiar.

As for Dr appointments, the only one you'll need to make is to get immunizations updated. The immunization form for 2028 is posted out there now, so you can do that any time now. All other medical screenings (cardiology, dental, etc) will be completed once they report.

Thank you! I have noticed communication can be problematic. Thanks for the confirmation on that and I'll make sure my son is vigilant :)

Remember that the entire school is only about 1000 students, so USCGA has a very small Admissions office. Try to be patient, persistent and pleasant and they usually come through for you. That said, I don't think we had many questions back when my DD went through this process and she got them answered by picking up the phone and calling the office directly.
