Question: How does the April 15th medical qualification deadline at USMA work?
Here's some context, I was called about 3 months ago and was told that I should be "receiving some good news" in the next following week regarding a potential offer of appointment. The next week came and I was instead hit with an email from DoDMERB and medical DQ. Pretty ironic. I immediately went under waiver review and was then reassured by the previous caller that as long as I received the waiver, things would still be looking up in terms of receiving an appointment. That was a few months ago and I have been patiently waiting and have diligently turned in any and all requested information to DoDMERB that could help my chances of receiving a waiver.
However, I am now worried about the April 15th deadline and what that entails regarding a chance of appointment. I have seen people mention that some people do not receive a decision regarding their waivers by the 15th, but on USMA's website, it states that "You must be medically qualified by April 15th. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the withdrawal of support for this waiver request." This leaves me pretty concerned. But as I have browsed the forums, it seems that hundreds, if not thousands of applicants have still not been notified about a waiver request with only 4 days left until the 15th. I have contacted DoDMERB, the USMA admissions office, and pretty much everyone I could think of that would have knowledge on the subject, but I have not really received a clear answer about what the April 15th deadline entails at USMA, if waiver decisions float past that deadline, and if there is anything I could do at this point besides being patient and praying for the best.
I completely understand how busy they must be in admissions right now, so I am looking here to see if anyone may have any insight on the matter. Thank you.
