Are CFA results accepted by other academies?

My DS is applying to USAFA, USNA and West Point. If he takes the CFA using the USAFA requirements (i.e., a coach can administer) and passes, can he then also submit those results for West Point? Or does he need to have a PE teacher administer the test if he wants to use it for West Point?

I took one CFA and had my coach present and he filled out the information for USNA and USAFA and had a PE teacher present to film my pushups and pullups and he filled it out for West Point. It has to be a PE teacher for West Point, so you are probably better off just asking a PE teacher to administer the test for all 3 academies. Don't forget to record pushups and pullups for West Point and show your name, candidate ID, and a drivers license/school id at the start of the video.

Pay very close attention to these comment about the video requirements. This is the area that candidates tend to mess up the most with regards to the CFA (not including actually failing one of the events). If you are not sure exactly what the videos should look like, look for examples online. It is relatively common for candidates to have to redo/resubmit videos for these two events.

As stated above, you only have to take the CFA once and submit those results to one academy. Then those results can be seen by other academies. Just inform the other SAs that you submitted to USMA. As stated, the video portion is very specific and my DS (now Cadet at USMA) had to repeat the specific section again to retake the video. ( I think it was push-ups and when I moved part of his body went out of frame) But, they did not make him repeat the whole CFA - only the one area and retake the video. Other academies (such as USNA) were able to see the results and USNA check mark turned green shortly after submitted to USMA. Good Luck!

I had the same situation with my DS on his CFA. USMA asked for a reshoot of his pushups with a notice about going down far enough. He corrected his form and uploaded the vid. After about two weeks, they came back for a reshoot of the pullups. He did those on a pullup bar in the doorway of his room. This was really funny since he is 6'4" in an 8' doorway. He had to keep his legs bent, but he actually got more reps. The big thing is to do your best and this is a one-shot deal for all the academies. One standard to pass.

my son has a slightly different situation…

He completed and passed the CFA at Navy’s Summer Seminar a few months back. When he transfers the CFA passing grade to Army, does he need to submit the videos to satisfy that requirement?

Or does the fact that Navy transferred the passing grade negate that requirement?

USMA will not accept any CFA without video, and they have very specific requirements for the video. If the CFA at Summer Seminar was not taped, and taped according to those requirements USMA will not accept it.

I'm in the same situation as your son. The USMA RC where I am told me to put down Navy as the contact in the CFA section of my portal. It should allow for you to pick between AF and Navy to send CFA scores, and once you input you should get a confirmation email. Also, he mentioned that I can just take a video of me doing pushups and pullups and submit that separately and it should be fine.
