Are my feet out of regs? (DODMERB question)

Just wanting to make sure that the DODMERB won't be a problem for me. I appreciate any insight.

I am currently a high school junior and I have some funky feet. I run cross country and distance track so my feet are pretty important. I am also a Navy JROTC cadet so I'm wearing military dress shoes often.

My concern is about bunions. I have a slight bunion on my left big toe and a more severe one on my right big toe. They do not cause any discomfort and I have been working to correct them for two years now with exercises and better footwear. I've had some running injuries in the past but have recovered and am performing well and comfortably.

Is this something I need to be worried about? I've talked to a doctor about surgery on the right bunion before. The doctor said it wasn't necessary and it would only interfere with my training. Should I start to reconsider surgery? Is there an expert I can contact?

Thanks!

The best you can do is talk to a US Gov doctor, who is in charge of evaluating you for this or has experience with entering the service with this condition and get their opinion. They can take a look and determine if you are passable, not passable, or need a waiver.

"The best I can do is, It depends."
