Last year, my kid got TD'd early in the process. He had 4 noms, Varsity HS football, JROTC, a bazillion volunteer hours. It didn't matter. I knew his app was lacking. GPA not high enough, ACT score etc. He was bounced Mar. 2. No TWE, nothing from Annapolis, not a thanks for stopping by, not a thanks for applying, not even an after dinner mint. He was hopeful for at least a Foundation Scholarship, or NAPS and would have happily taken either. It was nothing, zero, zilch, still no after dinner mint. All good. He flat told me what he wanted to do, and knew what he had to do. It was suggested in his Congressional interview he go to MMI, or similar school to mature, I'd say "get seasoned". They said they would happily offer an appointment to USMMA yet he still received a nom for USNA/USMMA from all 3 MOC's plus his honor school nom. This cycle, he was a Principal Nominee and received his appointment. I was under the impression you had to have a nomination, I'm sure I read that in these threads, mulitple times, or your chances were very slim. The point is, it's possible, probable they tried to find a spot for your youngin', which may be why it took so long. It just didn't work out, but there's always a next time, if that's what he wants. The more you know, the more you know. BUT, I've seen when someone disagrees/doesn't agree with something you say, you feel the need to question their positivity or negativity. as Neil would say, "lash out irrationally". Not necessary. There's a LOT of emotional capital, financial capital and nerve racking errand running getting things lined out, and that doesn't include the countless times we've stayed on them to finish their apps. We're all stressed from a process Annapolis never told anyone about, nor are they obligated to. We're parents and all of us want this for our kid. My job was to help him get there, he still has to do the hard stuff. The postive thing is, your kid made it 75 days in, the negative, it didn't work out. We all have a story
