Army Branches for Civilian Success

Personally, I recommend you go combat arms. But whatever branch you choose, fight to get assigned to a BCT. With the exception of a few branches (aviation, cyber, ADA, and probably a few others) there’s a job as a LT in a BCT and you’ll learn a lot there.

Regarding getting out after your obligation, I won’t comment on it because I honestly don’t care. If the army thinks your USMA education is worth 5 years of service, then that’s what they think it’s worth and I’ll roll with it. But the moment you stand in front of soldiers, especially those who have given so much over the past 2 decades, you’re personal future goals better stay inside your head. They deserve your best and if you have other things on your mind other than giving them your best, then you shouldn’t commission. I don’t think that’s the case here, but once you commission and come to the force, it’s game on. It’s not about you anymore.

The army is busy and as soon as you get to FORSCOM, buckle up because time will fly.
