Army ROTC 2023-2024 1st Board

Meanwhile, my son hasn't even checked. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Says he's too busy. TOO BUSY?!

I'm over here on pins and needles!

His stats are solid though, so if he isn't awarded one this round, he should get one second round.

3.7+ unweighted GPA

31 ACT/1370 SAT

Mostly AP/Honors classes, including very heavy STEM.

Varsity swim all four years

Cadet Commander of his CAP squadron

Numerous leadership awards and citations

Volunteer service

Lifeguard position the last three years

And solid recommendations from an Army LTC, Air Force Colonel and Navy Master Chief.

He's a well rounded SAL candidate.

just like energy you put into the scholarship. Get it knock out ASAP. You just never know if there will be a delay or something and you will need it before contracting next fall. Congrats on the Scholarship!

Thank you! He's already deep into the DoDMERB portion, as he's also applied to SA's. It sure is a journey!!

Can i change one of my top 3 schools? My mom wants me to change my third choice to an Ivy. Additionally what happens if I don't get into one if the schools I got the AROTC scholarship for?

Curious if anyone who got the 4 year could share their stats, I know it's just a small part of the equation but just curious.
32 superscored ACT (35 eng, 27 math, 36 reading, 31 sci, 8 writing), 3.71 UW GPA, 2 dual-enrollment classes, 7 varsity letters (4 XC, 3 basketball), maxed PFA, Boys State, tons of leadership, 300-400 volunteer hours, excelled in Army Cadets, red cross certified lifeguard, 2 jobs, minor academic awards (which probably didn't count for much since I'm homeschooled), and a great interview.

Congratulations to all winners and good luck to everyone going to the second board! My DS is a winner! 4 year full tuition! I have a question, though - the letter says he must accept by Nov.25, but he also has an LOA to WP and will not know if he got a nomination by that date. He also will not know if he is accepted to school of his choice (ROTC). Should he still accept the ROTC scholarship? Trying to understand how it works.

Per the portal:
Please understand, the act of accepting your scholarship does not obligate you to join the ROTC program, it does not commit you to military service and it does not commit the US Army to pay the scholarship. The act of accepting your scholarship merely reserves you a place should you become fully qualified and choose to contract. This creates different decision points where you will be able to choose amongst options or change your mind.

4 APs so far with 5s on the exams. 14 honors classes i believe. 1480 SAT superscore, 3.97 uw gpa, 3 years of Varsity XC, 2 years as captain, 3 years of Varsity spring and winter track, and ~100 volunteer hours.

TYSM!

I am confused by the results I got. I won the Early Commissioning Program Scholarship for the 4 Military Junior Colleges, but on my application I chose to not be considered for this. Is there anyway that I can still apply for the 4-year scholarship or change the scholarship?
