Hey PA. I'm the parent who started the last thread for the 2nd board lol. I went through ROTC many moons ago Navy side. So this one isn't for me. My ds is the one waiting for the outcome for the 3rd go around.Wishing you the best of luck! Are you a new applicant or were you considered in previous boards?
The end of the month will be an exciting time for sure!
I knew your user name was familiar, but I couldn't recall details. I am sending out good vibes for your DS this month!Hey PA. I'm the parent who started the last thread for the 2nd board lol. Thanks! We'll need it!I knew your user name was familiar, but I couldn't recall details. I am sending out good vibes for your DS this month!
Are you not confident? I would try to be confident -- I know for a fact I have seen others post who got nothing in October or January and then received a 4-year offer in the March board. Don't lose hope! Thanks! We'll need it!
Oh, don't think I've lost hope. I simply mean we want the good vibes and will take all you can spare lol. He has a strong package, so I'm not worried. Even if he didn't get it, I have already paid his deposit to go to the school he has chosen. He'll join the ROTC unit and fight for the scholarship while in college if that is what it takes. So he is hungry for the opportunity. Are you not confident? That's exactly what my DS said he was going to do. It's the right attitude to have about it all, so I commend your DS on that!Oh, don't think I've lost hope. Not worried in the least bit.
Definitely a lot of big decisions. Congrats on the 3 year! I think there is a good shot for all this time around. Quite a few friends of my DS got the scholarship, but have already turned it down for the service academy they were selected to. 3 kids I can name, which is 3 ROTC scholarships that in the end give money back to the ARMY due to the declination of those 4 year packages. So you never know. That's exactly what my DS said he was going to do. It's the right attitude to have about it all, so I commend your DS on that!
Fortunately, he did receive a 3-year AD scholarship. As Dad, I'm holding out some hope for a possible upgrade after the third board, but there's just no way to know. Either way, it's all good. We are very blessed.
Big news right now is that DS seems -- in the wake of his scholarship offer -- to have turned his attention seriously toward The Citadel. This is a bit of a shock to me, as he had insisted he did NOT want a military school. But, he seems to be quite enamored with the tradition and history there, and decided he might rather be there at the host school than doing the ROTC there as a crosstown student.
There are still a lot of big decisions to be made. The next few months will be interesting for sure.
Everyone on the forum here says the scholarships don't get "recycled" but it seems logical to me that they would. I can't claim to truly understand how the Army does things, but you would think there would be quite a few scholarships in the March board. And I'm with you, let all those SA kids reject those ROTC scholarships and give them to other kids who really WANT them!Definitely a lot of big decisions. Congrats on the 3 year! Not sure how the Army does it. If I remember right it may go into the pot for the schools units to parse out for the scholarships that they give while the student is enrolled? Each service seems to do it completely different than the next. My Navy experience with the program is of no help in this questEveryone on the forum here says the scholarships don't get "recycled" but it seems logical to me that they would.
