Army ROTC 2nd Board Results

Update: I just received an email from my scholarship processor. He gave me the same email as Ryloc talking about what might've happen to the that ROTC email. He also followed up the email saying "your application has been reviewed and there has been no missing information. Check back for more updates" I think it was just low on the OML. Surprised but anything can happen. I'll try to ask my counselor to look in junk folder or ask him to email directly the information. Thank you all for your help and concern!
You have a high GPA and test score but what about sports/captain, leadership and the fitness test? Do you have a passion for serving in the army and did that come across in your essays and interview? These are all factors that go into an OML score. Good luck, and don’t lose hope in the 3rd board!

I think my leadership is good. I played football varsity for 2 years, did martial arts for 10 years with teaching and coaching, and did marching band and was section leader and band treasurer. I am in the highest band where we perform for national competitions. I was Key club Division secretary and Executive Assistant to a membership of around 1,600. I did robotics as a electrical member. I did FBLA for 3 years, winning into the state competition twice. I am part of the link crew, CFA, and NHS of my school but not a big part of it. I am also the Model UN and debate club. I am FPSPI founding member and sectary. I also did California Boys state, USCGA AIM, and USAFA Summer seminar in the summer.

As my interview, I thought it went quite well. My interviewer sounded very pleased with my will to serve and said I should have no problem getting a scholarship in either the 1st or 2nd board. Now I think he said that to everyone, as I am here now with neither haha.

Hopefully we hear about the good news after the 3rd board.

Does anyone know if my counselor submit the feedback confirmation form, it'll increase my OML now? I know they review it once and that the form is not required, but will it help now?

I am unsure, as I think the OML is made once the board convenes, and that would be until march so.. plus it was not needed for you to get boarded so it’s unlikely it would increase it to go significantly up the OML. however that’s all speculation

Just more confirmation that you are in the game. As I wrote earlier, a USCGA appointment speaks volumes, and your credentials demonstrate why that happened. Let it play out with AROTC (although glitches like the one you just uncovered re your counselor obviously don't help).

Yea I’m getting it sorted out right now as we speak haha. My counselor isn’t here today so I have to talk to him on Monday. Hopefully it does boost as a boost is still a boost. I just hope I am not too low on the OML

Oh my! I just want to wish all of you good luck! I vividly remember a year ago at this time…spending WAY to much time on this board, anxiously awaiting what people were hearing.
Last year my son did not submit for the first board but waited until second. He DID take the ACT so I think that helped him. He received a 3 year. Then once the third boards were completed he was notified he was upgraded to a 4 year. I almost had a heart attack - God Is Great!
So do not lose faith or hope. AND during the summer my son was contacted by on-campus ROTC asking if he knew of anyone else because they had some additional scholarships available.
Hang in there! You’ve all worked very hard and should be proud of your efforts!

This is what I'm hoping for! I got a 3 year on this board and am hoping it will be upgraded to a 4 year so that I don't have to take out loans for my freshman year.

Oh! Good luck! I as honestly so grateful for the 3 year I didn’t even know it was an option. I’m not sure how they’re doing it this year, but last year anyone who didn’t take the test was saved for the third board… and just wondering if maybe that helped him a bit as he did take the test.
Not sure
Good luck! A 3 year is an amazing accomplishment and you should be very proud

That’s great! My son received a 3 year and of course we’d love to see it upgraded to a 4 year. How did the notification come? Wondering if he needs to keep looking in the portal later in March or if he will get an email or letter in the mail.

I think they do upgrades as part of 3rd board. Basically the rank 1 thru 2500 if they have given 1 thru 325 a 4 year on 1st two boards and after new applicants come in for 3rd board they will give next 300 or so a 4 year. If the next ranked 300 applications include previous 3 year recipients they get upgraded.....Those numbers are pulled out of my arse but principle is how I understand it.

Any others have a rollercoaster of emotions this week? DS went from the thrill of getting a 4-yr scholarship to a first-choice school, only to have his dreams dashed by an (early decision) admissions denial letter two days later. DS will look again at his other option to use his scholarship, but this was a rough week.

Maybe he could email admissions?

My dd was given a scholarship to a school that rejected her last week. She received an email from the ROTC dept of that school saying she could appeal her rejection.

I had a similar one. DS got his 4 year and one of his 3 ROTC schools he already had a Scholarship for 45K so we thought all bases covered. Dream come true. Find out Friday this school won't allow him to use his merit scholarship for room and board. Not the end of the world I know he feels like he has worked very hard to line this all up. He was hoping to have all 3 schools so he could compare apples to apples.
