Hello all, and thanks in advance. I applied for an Army ROTC scholarship this year, and submitted my application for the first board which met very recently (I believe they met October 21-23). I was listed as "Boarded/Under Consideration" from about Oct. 22 until today, when I checked again. I have been changed to just "Boarded." Is there a major difference between the two, or am I reading too deep into it? Thank you!

Yes...Maybe...Take a few minutes/hours and read the previous posts from last year. Consensus is that once your status goes to Boarded and your school choices are locked - it is a positive sign. Are your schools choices locked?
I should caveat this response....I do remember in previous years where applicants would go from B/UC to B and back to B/UC.
FACT - When cadet command notifies you (through your portal) that you have been awarded a scholarship - it is official.

Hi same here for my daughter - schools are on read only and it was switched to boarded! I wonder when the portal will change?!
My DS portal still shows her as boarded/under consideration. her schools of intent are not locked. However, she just received a text from a PMS at a school on her list letting her know she won a scholarship. So I’m not sure I would pay much attention to anything else unless it says winner in your portal

That is a good sign..BUT as I stated in a previous post - It is not official until your portal updates. Schools and PMSs are not supposed to contact applicants before all files are uploaded and CC makes the official announcement.

My son was checking his portal every 30 minutes and his changed between 4:30-5:00 PM EST yesterday. Totally makes sense that there is still work to do this morning.
DS portal is still B/UC. I have a question about this: if his status doesn't change, do we assume he'll move to consideration for the second board? People who win scholarships are notified, but what about those who don't? Is there communication about it, or is it just that you wait with no change?

Yes - If your current status is B/UC and the portal does not update to WINNER status, you will be automatically considered on the next Board. There will be no communication if you are "not selected". One important note - for AROTC, your application is only reviewed and scored ONE time. You can resubmit test scores to increase your overall points, but the application will not be reviewed again (on subsequent Boards). That is why it is so important to submit your absolute best package, whether it is the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Board.
Many candidates don't find out until mid April - it can be a long wait.
After the last Board - If you are not awarded a scholarship, it will state that - You have not been selected.

Thanks. One other question, if you know. Over what period of time are these changes happening? It looks like people's statuses started changing yesterday. From threads I've read over previous years, the changes happen over several days. Does this sound right? So for example, if by the end of the week, DS' portal still reads B/US, we will assume he didn't get selected for the first board. Is that a reasonable assumption?

My guess (just a guess) is that all of the portal uploads and changes should be finished by the end of the week -
The winner screens change all at once so if you see people posting that they moved to winner and you are still B or B/UC, you are moving on to the next board. There may also be a message saying you were not selected this round, but I am not sure about that.
