Army Center Getting A Chance To Make Packers (Janesville Gazette)

Pete Bier is getting a chance to play pro football.

That is all the Milton High graduate wants.

The Green Bay Packers signed the Army graduate to a free-agent contract Sunday afternoon after he participated in the team's rookie orientation camp during the weekend. Bier will try to make the team at center....

The office came with a view.

Outside sat a jewel of college football, Army's Michie Stadium, nestled under bushy trees on the bank of the Hudson River. On that field heroes were molded. They emerged later, sometimes during the big game, other times during war.
