Is there anything I have to do in order to be ready for the first board? I have completed all of the required documents and have been at "board ready" status for about a month. It hasnt changed to "boarded" or "under consideration" yet.

Nothing for you to do if you're at board ready. It means you're all set!

My status hasn't changed either, but I'm not sure if I'll be on the first board or not.

But, all that's left is for us to wait for this bored. (I meant BOARD whoops 🤭)

If you’re “board ready” then nothing further for you to do other than wait out the board that meets this week.

Sometime later in the week, check out your portal as they may mention a target date for when the results will be published.

@NovaMere The quickest way to see a status update is to keep checking your portal. You will also receive a lovely certificate and paperwork via snail mail!

Okay! Thank you!
So the selection status will say “winner,” but how do you know how many years (3, 4) and which school? Is that on the snail mail paperwork?

My daughter just found out that she got into her Early Decision school, so now we’re crossing our fingers for the ROTC scholarship to come through!

I am almost sure it’ll say the number of years on the portal.

I do know the snail mail paperwork will state the number of years and a list of the schools from which to choose to apply the scholarship. My DD got a list of 3 schools from her list of 7. I’ve read on this forum other kids got a choice of 4 schools.

You will have 30 days to make a decision to accept/decline and to which school. You can upload the signed paperwork into the portal rather than sending it back via snail mail.

DS was only offered a choice of 2 schools. Fortunately one was his first choice!

When you mentioned, "My DD got a list of 3 schools from her list of 7. I’ve read on this forum other kids got a choice of 4 schools", does this mean that Cadet Command chooses what schools you can attend out of he possible 7? And, your DD must still be accepted to the University first, correct? There is no guarantee she will attend her college of choice just because CC has it on the list. I'm just curious why Cadet Command would pick and choose? Do they communicate with the ROTC departments? Sorry for all the questions.

Do they have to be accepted to the school before they can get the ROTC to that school? We were waiting to see if my twins got the ROTC scholarship before we spent the money on application fees to the school. There's no way they can attend this school unless they get an ROTC scholarship. It's a private university and insanely expensive, but with the ROTC scholarship, the university pays for room and board and the scholarship covers tuition.

I can help with one of your questions above. "Do they have to be accepted to the school before they can get the ROTC to that school? " Short answer - No. My DS received AROTC, NROTC, and AFROTC scholarships prior to all admission decisions being final for his list of schools on each application. He received ROTC offers to schools he had not yet gotten into.

I'll add too that ROTC may may tuition, fees, book stipend, a monthly stipend etc and the university may pay room and board, but you'll pay taxes on the amount that the school covers for room and board. Fair warning.

Gotta run to a meeting. Best of luck.
