All that being said, I strongly advise against going with a STEM major just to try and "game" the scholarship process. There is such a high weed-out rate in those majors, it's best to stick with your true interests & passions.

You nailed it. Many HS seniors leave high school with the mindset of trying to do this. Instead, it would have better served their time had they actually decided doing the thing they love.
