AROTC Scholarship Board - Week of March 23, 2020

That makes sense - even on Activ

e Duty, when a promotion board meets and makes their selection, they do require a legal review to ensure there’s a somewhat representative mix - gender/ ethnicity, etc.
Should read “even on Active Duty...”

Emailed USF back asking them to confirm I was on the list and they said "The list is not posted yet. No approximate time line"

Sounds like they had to back pedal.

Ok so DD’s friend just got a call from the PMS who did his interview to congratulate him on winning a scholarship. His status still reads “boarded”. This is very interesting.

This sort of conflicting information seems strange. On one hand apparently some schools (U of San Francisco, for example) are contacting some recipients. Then there is the Montana State PMS saying that schools are supposed to not contact winners until it's official, which I took to mean that they DO know who the winners are (or else there wouldn't be any possibility of early contact). And we have other anecdotal reports saying that their programs of interest have confirmed that people are/are not winners. But then we have your ROO saying they don't even have the list of winners yet.

Hard to believe all of this is accurate.
Its the Army. Doesn’t surprise me in the least!!

My DS contacted his ROO and he confirmed that he and his sister have been awarded a scholarship, but not to celebrate until it shows up in the portal. I assume that is because there is a tentative offer, but no official offer yet. Until the official offer comes through the portal, I guess anything can happen.

It seems that everyone that got that email from USF has been awarded a scholarship. But Army could change it any time.

Just my 2 cents. I know people are getting excited about the switch to "boarded", however, I would hold off on calling ROO's or anyone else until you have "Official" confirmation. Boarded is still no guarantee of "Winner". Also, patience is a virtue and for those of you without Military experience, you will have to get used to "Hurry up and wait". Again, good luck to everyone!

Last year my DS changed to boarded on the 3rd board. That weekend we went to accepted students day at his college and met with the ROO who seemed not to recognize my son’s name (interviewed elsewhere). They talked and the ROO told my son that he should reach out to him if he didn’t receive a scholarship and the ROO would see if they had anything campus based for him. It was only a couple of days later that he got the “winner” notice. I really believe the ROO had no idea at that point.

Is there a concrete date that our portals will update? Wishing the best to everyone, the wait is almost over!

Well, it could also mean that HE doesn't have it, but his PMS might.
Sorry brother - but the school doesn't have it. Also spoke to the PMS at another school on his list and info was same - neither school will have list until Friday. I make no claims on other schools, perhaps they have them but when an ROO and a PMS tell me that their schools won't have them until Friday I will believe them. Good luck to you!

Lol...this is laughable as these young applicants are the epitome of patience and the process has been hardly a hurry up and wait...these 2020 Seniors are a unique group and i
Think they deserve a standing O - they are putting up with and enduring a process under conditions like none other in several decades. My DS being denied IB testing/ kids not taking AP exams to Prove their competency (not to mention the $800-$1200 parents paid for these exams after years of encouraging their kids to pursue a more rigorous course of study).... just saying- go
Ahead and be impatient - you are rightfully obliged at this point (IMO!)... proud of all
