My son is away at a retreat and I don't have access to his SLE information. I wanted to look at flight costs but do not know when the suggested arrival and departure times are for the SLE. He is attendeding that June 3 session. I believe he needs to fly into Newark. It there a time that his flights should arrive by and depart after?

Taken from the SLE Instruction Packet I and other candidates who accepted the offer to attend Session 1 received in their candidate portals:
"Newark International Airport (EWR) – West Point provides free ground transportation for participants whose flights arrive at Newark by 3 p.m. Check in for the buses to West Point are located outside the Baggage Claim for Terminal A. Uniformed military will be posted at each terminal at Newark to assist participants as required. Military academy buses are for participants only.
Ground transportation is not provided from other locations e.g., Kennedy (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), or Stewart airports (SWF), or Port Authority Bus Terminal et al. Participants who arrive from locations other than Newark (EWR) are responsible arranging their own ground transportation to West Point. When arranging ground transportation we recommend you make travel arrangements using Newark International Airport."
When your son gets back from his retreat, he can show you the rest of the packet on his portal. Also within this packet is the contact information of the SLE program coordinator, to whom you may direct any other questions you have. Hope this helps.

Last year, my DS flew into Newark and rode the bus to West Point. It was a very good experience. I would recommend having your DS ride the bus with the other SLE kids and West Point staff. It was a bit of a "reality check" and intro into what this commitment would be like. Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth...

My DD flew into Newark as well and rode the bus. Great experience...Stifling humidity and all.
