Hello everybody,

Currently I'm assigned to NSI iteration 2 and in looking over the NSI webpage I saw that there are options for flying to NSI or being dropped off. I live a little over an hour away from Great Lakes so driving would be a very viable option for me (and much quicker than checking in at the airport and flying). However, I also remember seeing somewhere that the Navy was going to arrange all transportation to and from NSI. Is the Navy going to assign a mode of transportation or is it up to the candidate? If the Navy is assigning transportation, how are the candidates notified? Thanks for any help!

I believe you tell your colleges unit what your mode of transportation is a d they will buy your ticket or not buy you one and you get dropped off at GL. At the drop off you say good buy and are marched in with the approach i get busses from OHare

I'm not sure about the details of how you will be notified of transportation, but if you live an hour outside Great Lakes, plan to drive. The Navy will choose the most economical mode of transportation.

@crescentwrench16 when did you find out you were assigned to iteration 2? I was assigned to the first one, but my school doesn’t even end until the middle of it. I requested a change, but nothing official has come through

We got to meet our DD's XO and HR person this weekend and got a little info on NSI. I don't know if this is unit specific - the woman we spoke with doesn't handle all NROTC, just for UofR (Rochester). She said that assignments will be coming out this week and travel arrangements will arrive about a month before she's scheduled to arrive. They may be doing this alphabetically so don't worry if it's early in the week and you still haven't heard and your last name is toward the end of the alphabet.

I guess bottom line of what I'm saying is - they are still working hard on schedules and arrangements. If you have a hard commitment (still in school), I think it would be pretty unimaginable that they would keep you in the first cycle. Info will be coming soon and I am certain that everything will work out! I'm excited for you all!

I was originally assigned to iteration 1 as well and it also conflicts with my school year so I contacted my unit and the Lieutenant I spoke to said he would transfer me to iteration 2. I haven't received any confirmation from ROTC that I was switched to iteration 2 either but I'm sure that if my name was still on the list for iteration 1 I would've received some instructions by now, seeing that it starts in just 9 days.
