hello community,

with all these warnings to finish the application by November and complete everything ASAP, just how many of the candidates will follow these warnings? It seems to me that a majority, if not all of the candidates, are submitting everything the same time I am- this month.

I just thought about this while working on my USNA essay..i shall stop procrastinating and go back to work.

As I understand it, your application does not need to be finished by November (but I would HIGHLY recommend you finish it MUCH earlier). All you have to do is make sure that at least some attempt was made on progress in your SSK/portal by November 1st. I think they have this so they can close out all of the 'dead accounts' - the people who completed the Candidate Questionnaire, but lost interest in continuing with admission.

Generally, if you look at the class patterns from the previous year you'll see roughly 12,000 to 13,000 applications we started (I believe this includes those who just completed the CQ). From that roughly half go on to continue their SSK. Out of those 6,000 or so only about 4,000 receive a nomination. Here's a big cut off : out of those 4,000 only about 2,500 are considered "qualified" with completed files. And last, but not least, half of those candidates with completed files will receive a glorious appointment! :thumb:

So to answer your question, we are currently at the stage where about 6,000 or so people are working on their files. Probably another 1,000 will lose interest in the months to come. Only the ones who are serious and have the dedication will go all the way. Just make sure you get at least one nomination and have your file completed and you'll have a 50/50 chance of getting an appointment.

Hey, try finishing your USMA app by late August, or at least early September. I URGE you to do that.

USNA can wait, you know.................
(For future reference, this is a joke, Go ARMY Sink NAVY!)

I suggest everyone takes a look at http://www.usma.edu/class/

Choose a class year, then click "profile" to compare where you are at in the application process to the volume of applicants with the same credentials.

... And I could not agree with you more, BillSL, Go Army, Beat Navy :thumb:

Something tells me we are going to crush the midshipmen at this year's Army-Navy game :shake:
