Just to make sure you know, though, the average freshman engineer at Texas A&M posts about a 2.7 GPA in the first semester. It's typically higher for cadets in the Corps, our average GPA as a Corps is a 3.06, but I do always want to let prospective engineers know that it is not easy.

(parent asking, of course :)) How far apart are all of the buildings/campusus? My DS is interested in Mechanical Engineering and I was curious would he have to drive to get to classes or are they all pretty close and walking distance? We live in Washington State and hadn't factored in him taking his car to college - should we - how does that all work?

I think he could manage without a car, the campus is very big but walkable. TAMU has a fairly reliable bus system for intracampus transportation. Keep in mind if he ever needed to go into town for dry cleaning or groceries he would definitely need a ride, unless he was OK with biking. Speaking of which he can also bike to places on campus when he's not wearing the Corps uniform.
 
My DS is interested in Parsons Mounted Cavalry. How does one join? What level of riding experience is required? Is it available to Fish?
Is somone in PMC in the forum to answer?
