Mr. Mullen, noting you mentioned “be patient with new person in training” in another thread,” that reminded me of something I have wanted to ask.

Would you poll your team and reflect on your own experience, and share some collective feedback headed in this direction on how an applicant can best help themselves in navigating this part of the process? Insights and tips long-time posters can refer to, parents can take back to Parents’ Clubs, BGO/ALO/FFR can add to their “pro know,” etc. It can be as mundane as “when you are leaving a voice mail for your civ team contact, speak clearly and slowly enough, with all the key elements, so the representative has a chance of deciphering it.” It could be common misconceptions debunked. It could be pointers to the DoDMERB website.

I think of you going back to your team with the endless flow of SAF action items, or you yourself working issues deep in the database, and I think the current should flow the other way once in a while. What would your most experienced DoDMERBers want to share here through you? Diplomatically expressed, of course, because I fully expect they get an unjust earful at least once a day.

This is far and away is the biggest problem in navigating thru the process:

1. MOM/DAD: Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" Read paragraph #4. {Parent intervention during the application process} Parent's Clubs later? Great. Parent's advising their kids within the confines of the family home? Great. Today I had a parent, using his Govt signature block, after a previous letter with his Retired military rank, and a letter from a Governor, with another to come, telling us how wrong DoDMERB was not to grant a waiver (DoDMERB doesn't make waiver decisions); that his 20 year old son who was denied a waiver in Feb 2021, was going to appeal his waiver denial this Friday...15 Oct 2021. I've had ... no.... communiques from the 20 yr, 8 mos, 7 day son

2. People listening to people who don't know what they're talking about. Talk to Admissions, Congressional Staff, DoDMERB, ROTC cadre.
3. Applicants: Read this document: Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" :wiggle: :wiggle::wiggle::wiggle::yikes::spacecraft::zip:
