I have read through the postings concerning asthma and would like some advice on the best next steps to take. My daughter had mild asthma from about age 7 through about 12-13?. She propabably has not tested postive for it after about age 12. At age 13 her docotor starting talking about taking her off medications for it. Just as we started to do so, the family moved to a very high altitude (7200 ft). As such, after we delayed taking her off her meds at first.

She shows no systems any more, is a distance swimmer and in fact just placed in senior division of the State Swim meet in the mile at the AFA (same rare air space).

She was just informed by the USMA they are requesting a wavier after a review of her medical records got her a D241.30 for Asthma/airway issues (the USMA knew it before we did). They also informed her they are sending her an LOA-it is obvious they would like her at West Point.

Is our best bet to get this resolved to write DoDmerb a letter explaining the situation and perhaps having her docotor do to same, or should we just wait and see what DoDmerb says to do next?

Thanks so much any advice would be appreciated!

I can give you a much more accurate course of action if you cut and paste this posting to me and provide your daughter's full name and last 4 of her SSN. I will be out for the next 3 hours or so and then will be going out to dinner tonight. So, I will check when I come home in 3 hours or so and then will check again late tonight. I will have email the whole time, but will only have access to the database lateer this afternoon and late tonight. Standing by to assist.....:thumb:

Lawn is cut; still fiflthy; will now respond before I shower and shave. Not too bad of a response time, eh??:thumb:

I have spoken with Mom on the phone 2X and sent her an email regarding her daughters medical situation. CC on that message were the accession folks, Admissions and Medical, for both West Point and USAFA. Mom is satisfied with the responsiveness and explanation:thumb:
