Hey everyone,
I understand my backpack on I-day does not matter a whole lot, but I'm looking for some clarification on authorized packs during the academic year. I hear all black should be good to go, but I have also seen references online to coyote or multicam being approved. The only bag I own currently is coyote, so if I can make my life easier by using the same bag I'd like to.
Thanks

I just read the CS&D and it looks like you could wear the coyote/tan/OCP backpack in OCPs or flight suits, but not in blues. Someone correct me if this is incorrect. I copied the CS&D below for reference.

"Authorized in any uniform combination-USAFA (Figure 6.23.) issued
blue (Class 2023 backpack) and solid Black back packs.
OCP/FDU/PTU-OCP patterned, Tan, and Coyote Brown back packs.
Small logos are authorized
. Cadets may wear a back pack on the left
shoulder or both shoulders (not to interfere with rendering the proper
salute). Back packs will not have ornamentation, a high- gloss, designs,
or hanging/dangling objects. All drawstring bags must be solid black in
color.
EXCEPTION: Water bottles may be attached to the outside of the bag.
Small gold or silver clasp authorized, but chains are not authorized.
Athletic team issued backpacks may not be worn in any uniform
combination (to include designated PT Gear) unless it complies with Air
Force backpack standards.
NOTE: ABU, olive drab, and Air Force sage green back packs are not
authorized"

DS has the black backpack that was Included with the summer seminar gear package. It has "Academy Admissions" in Falcon blue embroidered on it. Would that be an authorized small logo? Have you seen these backpacks used? Or should we just plan on getting a new one?

Good to know. Thank you for the info.

That backpack fits the regs. However, I found it just wasn't great for working out of and isn't really designed well for day-to-day school use. Plus everyone knows where you got it from 😁. Additionally, a tactical multi-cam/coyote brown backpack might draw some eyes on the Tzo... you are going to calculus, not to war. During BCT, basics are used generic black backpacks for school use. They aren't the best, but hey they work and got me through doolie year. If you don't like your issued school bag, then feel from to spend your well-earned cadet pay on a nicer one.

Any specific brand recommendations for bags to bring to BCT? I am not really sure what to bring

Jokes aside, it doesn't matter too much. Bring something that you don't mind carrying for a few hours. I used a JanSport, but it's just preference!
