Banking

I can't see any reason for needing a local bank branch other than if a safe deposit box is needed for some reason.
Thanks Blackbird for the feedback! I couldn't see any other reason either but thought I'd check before he got there.
They have a very nice iPad app as well.
And now they have one for the Droid also. Sure helps making depositing easier when all you need to do is take a picture with your phone. Makes me realize what a dinosaur I'm becoming.

Last year I thought usafa made it mandatory to use AF Bank at least initially due to the way they do the advanced pay. I could be wrong, I just thought i remembered reading something about that.

USAA definately is the best way to go in the end though

There is a box on the form you return when accepting your appointment that requires you to "check off" that you will sign-up with the AF Bank. I called admissions today and was told that the USAA was fine and that box was carry over from the past when you had to initially sign-up with the AF Bank. Supposedly when they use up all the "old" forms the next ones printed will be different. FWIW - The LT I spoke with put me on hold while she spoke with someone-in-charge to confirm this information. She did say that you will need to bring all your banking account information with you including routing number at I-Day...so you can get set-up for direct deposit. What's the worse that could happen...my son will have a delay on his pay being deposited during Beast and I'll have to deposit some money in his USAA account so he can use his ATM card?
