The Appointee Booklet states the following with regard to jewelry, “ Basic cadets may not wear any jewelry during BCT…”
I’m wondering if a religious medal ( chain w a medal) would be exempt from this. Thanks

Can someone please tell me where to find the number we are supposed to print in our cadets underwear ? Also, does it have to be printed in t shirts also ?

Also to summarize a bit if I may .
Things to bring on the first day :

Wearing boots, a plain t shirt and shorts
A backpack filled with t shirts, underwear, sneakers , envelopes , stamps, writing paper , deodorant , blister tape, body glide, sunscreen , strap for glasses .

Please add or correct . I need to keep this simple !

I do not believe it would, unless it was required to be worn by your faith group and qualified for a religious exemption. If it’s a matter of personal choice, you can step away from wearing it for a bit, keep it safe until you can wear it again. All military services have uniform, grooming and jewelry regulations. Your summer training will be vigorous. You don’t want to lose it, break it or have it become a safety hazard.

Once the summer is over, you will comply with the grooming regulations for the rest of your time at USAFA and your military career. Typically, necklaces can be worn, but they can’t be visible in uniform. The chain has to be long enough to ensure any pendant is not visible. The chain itself is usually covered by a t-shirt.

If you’re taking a Bible, assuming that’s your faith group, perhaps you could fasten it to an inside cover, where it would be secure, and would be a comfort to you for the summer weeks.

This is all just speculation on my part, based on military background. No doubt others with specific USAFA experience and knowledge will pop up.

Good morning. Jewelry used during exhaustive physical training and/or depending on the type of activity or work may be a safety hazard for the member. I believe this is the reason.
