BCT Workouts Not Enough?

I was curious to see if anyone else felt as if the BCT preparation workout plan isn't strenuous enough? Of course, as BCT starts to get closer, nerves begin to increase LOL. But in all seriousness, I feel as if there should be more running... a lot more running. I've started to run at least 2 miles for time every morning, and do the scheduled preparation workouts in the afternoon. Has anyone else that's been sticking through this plan feeling more nervous as it continues on?

I hope you are taking rest days and not running every morning. Even the top elite runners take rest days. Follow the advice of a reputable trainer. My son has always referred to his Jack Daniels book whenever he wanted to adjust his training. (Not THAT Jack Daniels...)

Haha! I run every weekday (should've stated that) but I do make sure to stretch both before and after. I will definitely look into a book for these next 20 days, thanks.

Preparation is helpful but according to my DS (2020) and DD (2025) nothing can fully prepare you for BCT, mentally or physically. And I think one understated point with BCT preparation is to avoid injuries as noted by raimius. Don't arrive on I-Day injured, sore or generally beat up from pre-BCT workouts.

That preparation imo is more of a mental thing. I guarantee you unless you are a calisthenics god, nothing will properly prepare you for BCT. I’ve seen really athletic kids who were confident in their abilities just get beat by cadre going on rotations PT’ing him, so just be ready to fail and get pushed to your limits. That’s the point.

I actually regret starting this sub because the calisthenics portion has started to wipe me out 😭

I believe the workouts were designed in focus to be easy at the start, allowing us to build up a base of sorts, and then progressively get tougher and tougher.

No matter how hard you train, if you are coming from sea level or anything below 2500 feet, the altitude will kick your butt for the first few weeks. If you are in better shape, it won’t be as bad, but it will still suck. They have the plan knowing that almost everyone is going to struggle for the first bit.

I made my kid bike up Haleakala last week on our Maui trip. He had more fun than me following him in the car! Altitude has no substitute to train for, but you are all young and will acclimate in a few weeks.
