Bear Den Update

When your application has an appointment attached to it does the candidate get an email that status has changed or you just keep checking Bear Den for an update?
 
My DD's Bear's Den was updated with her decision letter on a Saturday, and she received an email on the following Monday stating a decision letter was available.

Did she receive a call from a coach or AO? That seems to happen, but I’m wondering if that always happens. Thank you!

She received a call from her AO the previous Tuesday (before Thanksgiving). I've seen posts from past years where some people don't get a call, the letter just just appears in their Bear's Den.
