Bearing Points

With all due respect, I'd like to steal a line from one of our respected posters; ***** Please don't feed the Troll *****

:cool:

Current M/N's can chime in but I would suggest that you stay as far away from this book as you can - if you show up for indoc and indicate any prior knowledge of its contents my bet is you will become "that guy" and your experience as a plebe candidate may be different than your classmates.

David: Don't worry about it - I assume he's looking for a "Bearings Book" - it has the stuff you'll learn and memorize for plebe knowledge in it, at least "back in the day" it did. They'll give you what you need re: that sort of stuff during indoc. Just show up in shape and ready to enjoy the humid, Long Island summer and you'll be fine.

All: Not sure I understand the "troll" comment re:L Sandbar, though also not sure why someone who seems focused on life and times at USCGA by his past posts and thread participation is looking for a copy of a book that includes such gems of knowledge as to the height, and metallurgical composition of the world's tallest unguyed flagpole either.....

You must have alot of time on your hands Jasperdog to research past posts
from me, and as to why I want it is none of your business unless you can help.

Wow Sandbar, with a snippy response like that I am sure KP alumni and M/N's will be throwing you their personal copies of the book. I see no reason why you should have one - I would suggest you write a letter to Capt. Fell to see if he can help you out.

Bearing Points? :confused:

The Cadet/Midshipman Handbooks are:

Reef Points = USNA
Running Light = USCGA
Bearings Book = USMMA
Contrails = USAFA
Bugle Notes = USMA

Sandbar: Nice, clearly you've done well with those Dale Carnegie courses. I could have helped but I won't since I find your comment/tone offensive and rude so as a Brit would say - why don't you go bugger off, mate.

That said, if you are really looking for it, of your USCG brethren, Luigi at least knows the right name of what you seem to be looking for.

In closing, why don't you go back to the forums you usually frequent and be a good little Coastie, we men of the Merchant Marine have real work to do around these parts.

This one is going nowhere fast. I think it's run its course.
