Best Alternative: VMI or Northwestern Prep

I just received my TWE from USAFA and I'm looking into what I need to do now. I certainly plan on reapplying next year, but for now my top options are VMI and Northwestern Prep. My academics are already stellar, but I had a waiverable medical DQ and one section on my fitness test wasn't great. Does anyone have any opinions on which would ultimately be the best alternative if my goal is to get into USAFA to be a flight doc?

As a practical matter if you go to VMI you will either hate it and won't want to go to a service academy or you will so bond to your brother rats that you won't want to leave and won't be going to USAFA

I know a guy from Citadel commissioned into USAF -> Flight School -> Med school retired as a full Col and now works for the USCG doing some sort of flight med stuff, don't see why the same couldn't be done from another SMC.

Good luck

A small number do go SMC->SA. If your focus is admission to USAFA, a prep school is a better option. Rat GPAs can be pretty bad.... If your intention is 4 years at VMI and you’re just considering USAFA, then VMI is a better option than a prep school where you’re forced to transfer to finish your BS/BA.
