Best hotels

@Excited I liked the Long Island Marriott.. It's out in Uniondale and about a 30 minute drive from KP..
 
We just returned and stayed at The Andrew. Small and nothing fancy, but friendly staff and nice location near train station. Parking was $15/day which wasn't bad. Hotel offered AAA and AARP discounts. We loved our visit and only negative is that it seems there are several options for a great future! Went in thinking Deck and 5-year active service. Came home thinking Engine and staying within DOT. Not a bad negative at all.

We booked The Andrew…some of the reviews were cringey so it’s good to talk to someone who has stayed there… any restaurant recommendations?

Staff suggested Great Neck Diner for breakfast, which was fantastic. It a block up the road. There is a Mediterranean restaurant onsite. But, we did not try it. I stuck with Dunkin and the Diner. There were tons of eating options. There wasn't a refrigerator in the room - only locked for beverage bar. It didn't bother me. I brought bottled water and kept it in my room and car. The area was safe. My oldest attends school in North Philadelphia, and this area made me feel very safe. I even contemplated walking to the admissions gate for exercise...too lazy. I did check out shops near the Train Station.
You are not paying for luxury. If I was spending the week as a vacation spot, I may view it differently.
 
Stayed at the Andrew often. Better price if you tell them your stay is Academy related. Felt the rooms are small but nice. Have also walked to KP from there. About an hour. Liked Great Neck Diner (the owner will remember you), Bare Burger (sic,) Deli on the Green. Many restaurants in Great Neck and Bayside which I didn't try. I'm sure many of them are good. Pizza places and a Mortons if you're looking for a 60+$ steak. (Remember, this is an area in which yearly real estate taxes can be 6 figures.) Also stayed several times at the Marriot in Uniondale, next to the Nassau County Arena. Staff was very, very accommodating with some scheduling hiccups and when our travels met with some unexpected road bumps. (The potholes, uh sinkholes, in the surrounding parkways can really do a number on your tires.) But remember, as miner said, your not going there for Spring break. For future consideration, DW and I would take the train into NYC for our Thursday to Sunday visits (all of NYC we can stand) and would stay at the Residence Inn across from Macy's, a few blocks from Union station. Shopping in SOHO, 2 shows and 1 ridiculously priced dinner, a few Irish pubs and 1 Indian restaurant in which we'd be the only Caucasians :eek:nly if you like spicey food. DD would visit for at a day.

Regret not walking now. Next time. This entire area (including Academy) can be summed up as opportunities or options.

Can you tell us a little bit about parent's weekend? Mostly the schedule and at what time are they going back in.
Also, I am checking AirBnB and there is not that much availablility close to the academy. i am checking a house in Manhasset Hills. I am becoming an expert in the area 🤣🤣

We booked at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Carle Place for I-Day. When we visited in August, we stayed at the Best Western Queens Gold Coast, AVOID IT AT ALL COST!!!!!

I recommend the Garden City Hotel, 30 min drive, and The Mansion at Glen Cove, also a 30 minute drive. I’m lucky to live not far from the Academy (class of 26 flop house I suspect) but those are two places my wife and I go for staycations. Can be a bit pricey, but we do find deals there.
 
We've stayed at Air bnbs in Queens for longer stays. Great Neck Inn might be good for a shorter stay and it's pretty close to the Academy.
 
This is a relatively old thread but the only one I can find that is primarily directed to nearby Academy lodging.

A place I would recommend, slightly more distant than those mentioned in the Logging In booklet, is the Inn at Fox Hollow. It is about a 35 minute drive (20 miles) from the Academy. The downside is it is extremely popular for weddings and around Academy Homecoming time, popular with reunion classes. The website is Inn at Fox Hollow.

My wife grew up in Woodbury. I have been to several events there - never stayed. Very nice place.
 
Hilton Garden INN in Roslyn. very clean, good breakfast, close to downtown Roslyn and only 15 minutes from KP. Much cheaper then the Inn at Great Neck.
