The last thread about printers in this forum is over 10 years old, so I figured I'd make a new one. Any sort of recommendations for a printer for USAFA cadets? (specifically, doolies?)

Here are a few that I've been looking at:
Canon - PIXMA TS3520
Epson - Expression Home XP-4100
Epson - EcoTank ET-2800
HP - DeskJet 2755e

There aren't any types of specifications/requirements for printers listed in the CS&D, so I'm guessing we're allowed to have any type of printer as long as it looks neat.

Personally, I don't think buying/funding your own printer is worth it. While the printers here can sometimes be finicky, they are pretty easy to use once you get the hang of them. That being said, I don't know anything about printers, so I'm not much help to you! Good luck, and congrats on making it through basic

Aren't most things submitted electronically now?

My DS never owned a printer through college and he commissioned two years ago. When he absolutely needed to print, he used common areas.

One of the military job assignments is IT - Information Technology. They can help you out. They get lots of questions on squadron printers and help with their laptops.

Personally, I would wait until further in the semester to see if a printer is needed. We bought one for our DS his Doolie year. He barely used it and it spent more time in storage than his dorm room.

My son is a 2026 and we got him the Eco tank. It's up and running for him and his 2 roommates.

Wow, I wish we at USNA got the option to get a printer or not! We were all issued them, which was paid out of our own salaries. :( I used mine probably 4 times last year.

I wouldn't recommend getting the printers used at USNA. They are so bad, Mids literally throw them out their windows.

DD never purchased a printer and never heard of her mention the need for one. I think shea so tries to not have to many extra things to keep moving rooms around a little easier. I think she just uses the printer in squadron if needed.
