One important thing to look at when looking at ROTC schools is their commisioning rate. Last summer I looking at VMI and Virginia Tech. Both schools are VERY diffrent from one another and both are very good schools. What did it for me was that last year VMI only had 17-35% of their graduating class choose the military while virginia tech had more than 80%. For me, I thought going to a school where most of the other kids had the same end goal as me would be easier. I have since decided not to participate in ROTC, but I have had a good amount of experience in the subject. As far as Army ROTC goes Vtech as been ranked as the #1 ROTC school in the country for the past 3 years.
P.S. GHLord congrats on VTech
