Best time to visit if you can’t do both: R-day or Parents Weekend in Fall?

For me having gone through it at USNA with my daughter, I would take a loan out to be able to attend both. I know that is easier aid then done but they were both two of the best days on my parent life.
 
Just to add to what has been said already R day your swab knows no one. While the parents association does do a great job getting refreshments and a snack to them there’s no better feeling than family when you have a day like that! By the time parents weekend comes around he/she will have many friends and those friends parents will not allow your son/daughter to go without.

No break. They have CAP (cadet administrative processing) week. They'll have their shoulder board ceremony, get their new roommates, new rooms, finalize their class schedules, and tons of other stuff. You'd think that with swab summer being over it would be a huge relief, but that week is actually very busy and sort of stressful in its own way.
