You can also keep an eye on National Letter of Intent to see who is being recruited from a sports perspective- the NLI early signing is Nov 9th - Nov 16th and high schools usually publish the information. It can show accepted CGA EA appointment offers that may not make the forum.Yes, good luck to all potential shipmates! When anyone gets an acceptance, please share the good news with us all... and possibly when the application was submitted (so we can sort of guess when we're up next ) It'll be exciting to hear from the very first one, regardless of who it is. GO BEARS!
Where do you go for that information? Not very familiar with that stuff. Any links? You can also keep an eye on National Letter of Intent to see who is being recruited from a sports perspective- the NLI early signing is Nov 9th - Nov 16th and high schools usually publish the information. His is actually dated 8/17/2016 ... he got it before the app process opened i think ... then he was told to submit with the early decision groupDid you get your LOA a few weeks ago when the admissions officers asked for transcript, resume, extracurriculars, leadership, etc? DS got a phone call asking for those items to be given to admissions officer's CAPT. but haven't heard anything since. DS submitted app on 10/10 and it also says ready for review.
i would guess only those with an LoA are expected to go EA ... unless their application is as good as its going to be academic rockstars with great community service and leadership credentials (thats kind of how Admissions has phrased who should apply for EA the sessions we have attended) - i actually just spoke to his coach - he will send a NLI for him to sign at school during the NLI Week Signing Ceremony - but most of what we did was verbal and a handshake. this was quite refreshing because i have spoken with many coaches (i have helped and trained young athletes for @ 9yrs) and the cga coach was one of the few i felt that i could believe that the best interests of my child as a student athlete came first
We did the "handshake" commitment with the coach at CGA. Should we have asked for an LOA? He had my son submit EA and we are currently waiting to go to the DoDMERB appointment. How long after the appointment does it take to get the letter that says you are medically eligible?
my son got his letter in the mail yesterday here is his time ... appointment was 9/28 ... dodmets closed it and sent to dodmerb 10/6 ... dodmerb cleared on 10/11We did the "handshake" commitment with the coach at CGA. I don't think you ask for an LOA. I also don't think any of this is needed.
It's D3. The thought of signing is comical to me.
Just enjoy being accepted and get ready for the real "fun."
I'm gonna add mine. Good luck to you all! My DD made a recruiting visit to the USCGA during last years cycle. To avoid a second trip across county to visit the USCGA, we drove up to campus after a visit to Yale. The impromptu visit left me with a group of cadets from the Crew team, while my DD spent about 90 mins with the coach. I was really, really impressed with the USCGA Cadets (sorry if Cadet is the wrong term).
DD ended up at the USNA, but boy we sure liked the people we met and that great campus. Best to you all. My DD is still trying to get her best bud from her Crew team in Seattle to apply to the USCGA.
