Just some food for thought for appointed kids to the academies and their parents. I know we all have been advised to pursue a Plan B, even making deposits etc. We did that last year. I waited and waited to cancel, making sure my DS made it through I-Day. What I didn’t realize was that when he was off to Plebe Summer I was getting charged for housing and school if I didnt cancel in time but I didn’t have any of the log-in information and no way to get in touch for seven weeks! I could have saved myself a lot of trouble and expense if I knew how to log into the portal with my DS info.

Hoping I save some parents this grief this year.

Good advice. We paid a $500 housing deposit and the school would not give the deposit back. DS did contact saving us any further charges.

Same thing here, however, mine got an email asking if they still planned on showing up because the school hadn't heard from them since Decision Day. The person my kid contacted to request a refund from (financial aid rep) must not have relayed the info appropriately, or there was some disconnect or miscommunication between depts at the school. Thankfully, the email came after A-Day and kid could reply to it. Yes, it sounds helicopterish, but get everything in writing, receipts, and access to your cadet/mid's emails, even bank accounts to monitor for fraud. They can change their passwords later.

Get DD/DS to sign a medical release form so you can get access to medical records. Remember, that you're paying the insurance premium.
