Aside from mole skin and band aids, what are some good tips for blister prevention? I have read about sock liners, but can’t seem to find them to purchase. Does anyone have experience with these? My sons boots are giving him blisters. Looking to head off potential foot problems while he’s breaking them in.

Sock liner = boot liner = thin pair of socks which are worn under a heavier pair of socks. I am sure you could find them in Bass Pro and other outdoor stores as well as on line.

Plenty of backpacking tips on footcare on line.

today's boots barely need breaking in. Today's feet may need to be toughened up.

The old trick was to wear the boots in the shower and then walk around all day as they conform to your feet. That is no longer necessary as the boots are not stiff leather and the materials are much more comfortable.

Sock liners, hose, tape, gradual breakin, proper fit, prayer.

I used to inject Tincture of Benzoin into active blisters to toughen the skin. The screams from the patient would send most Marines back to the old fashioned way of dealing with blisters which is to suck it up and wait for the leathery layer to form.

Second the toughening up of feet. Wearing boots early and often isn't just to break your shoes in. Its to break your feet into wearing the boots.

I blistered terribly during basic with the standard issues. I use foot powder, sock liner & fox river socks, and also I was initially tying them incorrectly. I had to basically "kick" my heel into the back of the boot when tying them so my heels stayed in place firmly, then there was less movement and less friction. Hope this makes sense, kinda hard to explain through a computer.

I second the Body Glide suggestion by Capt MJ. It is wonderful for the feet and has prevented many potentially painful marathons for me...especially in the areas prone to chafing. 😫

Knee High Pantyhose under good socks. Haven't bought them in a while but I have never had a blister from wearing boots including the issued boots.

I always wore a pair of long dress socks as “liners” and that worked well on longer rucks. If your boots fit right, it really isn’t even necessary when they get broke in to wear liners. I don’t think I had a single blister over beast.

In my experience, the type of boot I wore determined whether or not I would get blisters. I never got blisters in my khyber, rocky, or garmont nfs, but I always got blisters in my garmont bifida when breaking them in

Apply (spray or stick) deodorant to the part of your feet that is vulnerable to blisters. Try it out.
