Hi, all. Does anyone have experience with either the Rocky S2V Spec Ops Boots or the Belleville Khyber II Boots? If so, what are your thoughts?

I'll let others comment, but I have heard of many cadets using a Garmont T8 Bifida (or a more mid-weight? boot) for CBT then eventually switch to a very light boot for garrison life. BTW, Khybers seem to be popular with many saying they need little break-in -- unfortunately I can't offer more insight than that. At the end of the day, it's all what your foot likes. Good luck.

I did NOT like my Kyber's. They are comfy but are heavy, hot, and chunky.

Go with Garmont T8. They have been the BEST pair of boots I have had. I actually have two sets of them. They have lasted many miles of rucks and ruck runs(Sandhurst, 2x summer training, Norweigan foot march, half marathon, etc...). Also, it does not take long to break them in. They support the foot better in my opinion.

My son likes the Oakley Light Assault boots. He used them in high school with JROTC and wore them quite a bit this year (his plebe year) to the point that we just bought him a replacement pair. He also didn't mind the issue boots for Beast.

Hello (current plebe here),

I used Belleville KHYBER TR550 Hot Weather Boots this past summer and they were awesome. I would recommend looking at these as they were super comfortable on the rucks. They also are super durable as I have had mine for nearly a year now and I haven’t needed to replace them like the other plebes have in my company. I would break them in and get them wet a little as they will then mold to your feet. These boots will be what I will be using going into CFT this summer also. The issued boots also make a great spare pair to have on hand as they are a little lighter. As a mentor once told me “always have two pairs on hand (one for inspections and a professional appearance and one pair for the field)“. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Good luck this summer! Beat Navy!
