Braces/Invisalign while attending ?

Mr Mullen is a lot better source but anecdotally, yes I had classmates that were able to get braces while at the Academy using the provided dental service.

At USNA, orthodontia would be paid for if deemed medically necessary by the Navy dentist and oversight review board. If for cosmetic reasons, the govt would not pay, which is consistent with the policy on certain medical cosmetic procedures. I would suspect it is the same at USMA, but I am sure Mr. Mullen will come back with the most current policy.

West Point =

1. Cadets are NOT allowed to get braces from “outside” orthodontists at any time while at the academy. Orthodontics requires frequent visits and cadets cannot be guaranteed the time away to get that care.

2 Q = Will DENTAC, if warranted, employ braces/Invisalign on cadets?
A = As of now...Cadets that meet a specific Handicapping Index of Malocclusion (HIM) score may be considered for braces. A very limited number are accepted. We do NOT offer clear aligner therapy (example: invisalign). Also, this is subject to the availability of an orthodontist stationed at West Point.
