Bush to address Coast Guard Academy graduates

President Bush on Wednesday will address graduates at the Coast Guard Academy, where the lives of the cadets were shaped by the same tragedies that profoundly affected his presidency.

The Coast Guard has had a higher profile since the Sept. 11 attacks and its role rescuing victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Coast Guard is also experiencing a record number of drug seizures and is bracing for new challenges stemming from global warming....
Bush talk at academy sparks protests


Hundreds of anti-war demonstrators and a smaller group of war supporters converged Wednesday outside the Coast Guard Academy, taunting each other as President Bush addressed graduates inside.

Bush, a Connecticut native who did not pass the protesters as he arrived, tried to rally support for the Iraq war by citing intelligence that Osama bin Laden was working in 2005 to set up a unit inside Iraq to hit U.S. targets....
