C/O 2026 must be vaccinated before Iday

I have several friends who were kicked out of ROTC for very mild eczema. Would it have impacted their career at all? Not a bit. However for medical issues before commision, it is black and white. Just like the requirement to get the COVID vaccine.
Do you know why they were kicked out of ROTC for eczema? Because if you have eczema there can be deadly consequences if you get the small pox vaccine which military members mayhave to get.

I have realized that many people don't understand the difference between "requirements" and "recommendations."

One of my coworkers had refused to take vaccines based on her beliefs. Since March 2020, many employees have been infected with COVID. Only one died. The healthy coworker who refused vaccines died due to COVID. What if this type of tragic thing would occur to a platton leader in charge?

What if a wounded soldier asks help in a battlefield? Should an officer check by asking "First things first, are you vaccinated?"

Military leadership involves making "critical" decisions, often in high-pressure situations with consequential risks. Military leaders must carry weighty responsibilities. If lacking sufficient self-confidence, doubt can paralyze the officers and their subordinates from taking action. It seems that many people don't understand this basic thing. Incredible.

Yes I am aware of the stated medical reason. The parallel still stands. If you have eczema, you wouldn't be able to serve in AORs that require the smallpox vaccine, thus the military won't let you in the door. If you don't get the COVID vaccine, you won't be able to serve overseas or deploy, thus the military won't let you in the door.

General Moga held an All Call through the AOG on Friday and one thing he made very clear was if he has his way class of 2026 was going to come in already vaccinated and boosted or they would be turned away at the door. Just thought I’d pass along if you have received an appointment don’t wait to think you will get those shots during BCT. I love his passion for the Academy and he also said BCT will be like it was precovid and more of the traditional BCT so prepare to work your *** off.
Firstie here, that's a load of BS. Tons of cadets are unvaccinated or not boosted and we have heard nothing about new vaxx mandates. Last semester they did something like this to scare us into getting it and then never followed through.

Well as a firstie you should know what a DOD mandate is and the Air Force has one. It states all airman must be vaccinated. It doesn’t state all must be boostered. As for stats right now the cadet wing is 98% vaccinated I’m not sure why it’s not 100% yet but my guess is cadets will be removed soon if they are not.

This is the exact email I received from Col. Primas on 11 Feb 22. I see that others got this as well.

Dear Candidate,

Many have inquired about the requirements for the COVID-19 vaccination for those who may be appointed to the Air Force Academy. Please be aware that DOD policy currently requires that all service members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. However, service members do have the option to apply for a medical, administrative or religious exemption.

Arrival instructions regarding COVID-19 vaccination status for the Class of 26 will be available when they are established. As USAFA develops the Appointee arrival instructions, we encourage each of you to get vaccinated for COVID-19, to include the booster if able.

USAF Director of Admissions

This is, however, the only thing in my inbox regarding vaccines in the past couple months, has anyone received anything else beyond this with regard to "arrival instructions."

Thank y'all!

The requirement to get one as a cadet is almost a non-issue. You will be required to get on before entrance to active duty. You will be "Red" on your IMR. This metric is very closely tracked for medical readiness. You have the right to submit a exemption request. It will almost certainly be denied due to reasons outlined in my previous post.

Refusal to get the vaccine = undeployable/unable to be stationed overseas and thus should not be allowed into the military.
