In the '26 appointment thread, we had around 14 people that reported being pulled off of the waitlist, just from the forum. That meant there were most assuredly more out in the "real world" that aren't in that number.

But, I think last year there weren't as many?

It is a crap shoot, but it is still a good place to be as it means you are all still in the running. Good luck, and continue to hold the course!

Do you remember how many people on those posted (totally number regardless of whether they got off the waitlist or not)?
 
Does anyone know, if I accept my appointment to USAFA can I still accept an offer from USNA if I get pulled off of the wailist?
 
Hey All,
Current Class of 27' Plebe here. Wanted to let you all know that though chances are slim for the waitlist, it isn't impossible. I had submitted my fee to my local state university on May 4th and then on May 6th got my offer of appointment. Its grueling having to go for a second wait but its worth it. My plan was to reapply the next year if I didn't get in. If this is something you really want, nothing should stop you from it.

Short answer - Yes. You can accept your USAFA appointment and then if you are pulled from the waitlist at USNA you can contact USAFA to decline.

Been there, done that. DD walked away with an appointment, SAF friend’s DD walked away with Foundation, others walked away with a TWE. There is no way to know your chances, you just have to wait.
