CABS worries

As some appointees know, about a week and half ago, USNA sent out the PTR packages with the CABS email to among many other things, validate math courses for next year online. While I've taken the advanced math courses in high school (currently in AP calculus as a senior) I'm still worried about sealing my fate for next year of math with an online validation. Don't get me wrong, I'm confident in the ability to "review" math and do well, but for some reason going through 2+ years of math in exams online seems a little discouraging (mind you I haven't started so I have no real idea of their difficulty). I don't like to complain, but I'm currently completing my mandatory senior project, along with reviewing for 5 AP exams in the upcoming weeks.

I guess where I'm going with this is what are any other peoples experiences so far with these exams? This could include other appointees to the class of 2015 or even current Midshipman. USNA wants CABS in "within 2 weeks of receiving the PTR packages (giving me until April 24th), but "certainly before I-Day." I feel obligated to take them right now before the 24th, but I don't know whether to wait until I'm done with my calculus curriculum and AP reviewing to give me a better chance to validate at least Calculus I. Like I said, I don't mean to complain, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Congratulations on your appointment.

I can’t speak to the difficulty of the tests or your chances of validating. I can say that my plebe daughter was in the same boat last year. She took the online tests and was able to validate a full year of calc. They will look at your AP scores too so just do your best and rest assured you will end up being placed where you need to be.

More fundamentally, if you’re feeling that there’s too much to do and not enough time to do it; get used to it! You’ll have plenty of time to rest up next Thanksgiving.

DS said test was set up in 10 minute sections, so you don't have to take the whole thing at once. He is in the same boat with AP classes and AP Physics project, so he is just doing a little at a time. From what I understand, this kind of time crunch is just a warm-up for next year :shake:

Sorry to be slightly off topic, but since we take this calculus validation test now does that mean we don't have to take the test during plebe summer?

Yeah, Pre-Calculus and Calculus I validation's are on CABS. If you get a certain score on Calculus I, you can validate Calculus II later in the summer (don't think it's during Plebe summer)

I just comepleted the Pre Calc and Calc validation exams on cabs. Does anyone know when/how we find out what our scores are and if we are eligible to validate a course?

Just an update, I decided to go ahead and do them and they weren't that hard at all or very time consuming either.

@mhc, I know after I finished the precalc a message said I did "excellent" and then forwarded me on to the calculus, but I didn't see anything about my scores for calculus. I'm assuming they'll let us know during the summer.
