Hi, I was just wondering how you are supposed to schedule the cadet for a day if you are interested? I couldn't figure it out on the website. Also, is there any sort of admitted students weekend for CGA?

Have not heard about a admitted students weekend but there is the AEP program. That is the overnight for appointed students. DS got notification of that by email and the invite was in his bears den under my events

You will need to be invited to Cadet For a Day by the USCGA. My son received an email about it and then it showed up in his Bears Den under Events.

This depends on whether you are talking about CFAD (fall program) or the Academy Experience (spring program) which is for those with appointments. Which do you mean?

For those of u that have scheduled this. Is your DS/DD attending on their own? Or are the parents accompanying them? My DS registered for the late February date. I am not sure I can attend. IF I can't, I was planning on flying him there? Is anybody else in this same situation?

there a few people in this boat - i am going with DS 30th of march - join the parents facebook page people willing to help!

We are attending with our DS in February. We are picking up another appointee from the airport and bringing him with us.

My DS got his itinerary for the overnight. However, is there a list somewhere on what he should take and how to dress?

I would go business casual - khakis nice shirt with comfortable shoes or decent looking sneakers ...

Any suggestions for women? My daughter is struggling with this "business casual" concept as it really covers a lot of options for women. What are others planning?

Khaki pants and a nice shirt are also acceptable for females. Comfortable shoes are a must, and a jacket for the weather. Often there is little time to make the walk from one classroom building to the other across campus, so appropriate shoes are a must. I would NOT advise females to wear heels. The campus is quite hilly.
Make sure to thank your cadet! The cadets volunteer to "host" AEP and Cadet for the Day participants. This is in addition to their heavy class load, sports, and club commitments.

Did they email you the itinerary or is it the one from when you registered. We are going 2/23 and DS has not gotten any other emails about it. Does anyone know if we send towels and sheets or sleeping bag?

A brief list of the items they should bring is included in the confirmation CFAD email. Yes bring a sleeping bag/pillow/towel. They sleep on an "antique" cot brought down from the so called "haunted attic" in their host's room. Khaki pants/sweather/jacket/back pack...and yes, comfortable shoes. My DD wore boots. Option to take the PFE is included in schedule so PE clothes and sneakers, if that is the case. The schedule from when my DD went last fall was 0845 check in, 0900 tour (parents included), 1015 opening remaks and admission presentation (parents included), 1155 cadet/student pairing and parents depart. Students spend rest of day at lunch, classes, and generally follow the host's schedule. Cadets were up studying late in room, so lights out was very late. Friday morning option for PFE. 1000 parents and students reunited, questions with athletics and cadet panel. 1100 program conclusion. It was a great experience for my DD and it helped solidify her decision. Keep in mind, as the admission staff frequently says....every contact with the academy is like an interview and "Being early is on time, and on time is late". There is time in schedule for attendees to meet coaches, as well. It's good to reach out to coach before attending so a meeting may be arranged. All cadets she met along the way were very helpful and pleasant, "chill" was the word my daughter used to describe them. Hope this helps!

Are you all from RA?

No we are accepted EA and doing the AEP program. That is for admitted students. I figure we will get some more info this week but the feb 23 date was the first you could choose from. We got the email inviting to AEP after appointment.
