DS just returned from CFAD and had a blast. I highly encourage anyone who has the chance to go GO! He got to interview directly with his admissions officer and I think that is a big plus.

He has also participated in CVW and NASS at the USNA and all I can say is the there are lots of similarities and differences between the institutions. There is very much a different "feel" at the USCGA. Not better or worse just different. Any candidate should try very hard to visit and experience it for yourself.

Now back to hurry up and wait.....

Good luck to all the other EA candidates!

I too have applied EA, but have never visited the USCGA. Is this a big weak spot in my application? My family is very busy, and such a trip would take a lot of time and money. Additionally, I did not know that I was going to apply to the CGA until this summer, so there has not been much time to even plan a trip.

Thanks for any input!

I would not think that is a weak spot at all. Many students are admitted without ever visiting. I would; however, encourage you to visit if you are accepted if that is possible before you decide to accept the appointment.

My DS is applying to the USCGA, USNA, and USAFA. We have never visited the USAFA but will if he is fortunate enough to get an appointment.

DS just registered for a fall CFAD - two questions for BBQ-Devil or anyone else:

1) Do CFAD attendees have to proactively set up the interview or do they have to wait and see if admissions will offer it to them first?
2) Are candidates able to take the PFE at CFAD?

DS did take the PFE while there. They took all the kids over to the indoor gym and gave them all the PFE test on the morning of the second day.

For the interview, DS was already asked for an interview so he reached out to his admission counselor and she set it up to take place after the program ended the second day before we left campus.
