Is semester of Calculus required prior to submitting application? Son is taking pre calculus as a junior this year. So will take calculus his senior year. Someone told him not to submit his application next year until after early deadline because he needs at least one semester of calculus on his transcript to be considered a candidate for admission. We searched and cannot find this as a requirement , so interested in others experience /understanding of requirement.

Never trust "someone" or what "they" say. Go to the academy's web site at www.cga.edu and look in admissions requirements. In addition, contact your region's admissions officer. That's where you'll get the straight scoop on admissions requirements.

Not sure of the technicalities of the application process, but I have spoken with a number of swabs who had never taken a calculus class before. Most, if not all, have not some form of precalculus though.

I would doubt not having calculus would exclude him as a candidate, but having some calculus would probably help his chances of getting accepted.

Like the previous post, best to check with the admissions experts just to be sure.

Calculus 1 is a common 1st semester 4/c course. Reporting cadets should, at a minimum, have taken Pre-Calculus or some precursor to Calc I. During Swab Summer the Swabs will have math and English tests administered to determine course placement. If the Swab shows weak mathematics skills there is now a Foundation for Calculus course offered in the fall semester that prepares cadets for Calc 1 in the spring semester.
