My son is a member of USAFA Class of '23. He spent from 26 June-6 August in BCT. During that time, there was a lot of training (physical and mental). During BCT, he took placement/validation tests for his fall classes and completed medical/dental appointments. He didn't have free time at all except to write/study for a bit in the evening. His academic year started 8 August (not exactly sure of the date, but easy to look up). We spent the Friday-Monday of Parents' Weekend with him (in Colorado Springs). He has Sundays off (but mostly studies, hikes/runs, and goes to the gym). He finds time for running and gym workouts some nights during the week as well. He flies home for both Thanksgiving (5 nights) and Christmas (3+ weeks) this year (finals for him are done on 11 December). It was a tough start for him; but he has focused and worked on his time management. He is thriving now and is really starting to enjoy it. He even left campus last night for an outing with some friends from his squadron!
