DS is 3Q + nom. MOC called and said DS would receive appointment letter from USMA tomorrow. DS won't believe it until he sees it...Any chance this will be a prep school appointment letter? Is it definitely a USMA appointment?

My daughter got a call from her MOC today. We assume it is West Point and have no reason to think otherwise. My understanding is that if he is 3Q, he would not be offered Prep School. It is for folks who need a bit more academic prep.

I have not heard of an MOC call being anything other than a Congratulations on your appointment. And yes, a 3Q letter removes you from prep school consideration. Your MOC would not call about a civil prep offer. Looks like this is the real thing. Congrats ......

Quite a few appointments went out today. The West Point system updates and the MOC gets notified. They have 72 hours and then their portal changes and the BFE is mailed. FFRs could also confirm after the 72 hour wait.

So the candidates portal won’t update until MOC has the chance to call?

My daughter got the call yesterday and her portal has not updated. I think they give the MOC a window to call if they want and then update the portal after that.

Thanks. Does the MOC get that timeframe if the candidate is appointed w ROTC Nomination as well? Sorry for questions. Son has Congressional and ROTC Nomination.

I don't know. My daughter had congressional and ROTC noms as well. To further complicate the matter, I know of another student who got a call from the same congressman about his appointment yesterday. We don't know if our congressman had two slates this year or they got in on different nominations.

There is really no way to know. My DD had a MOC and ROTC nomination and did not receive a call from her congressman. The initial place they "slot" you may change as they go through the process.

I would think that they notify all MOCs as the primary way the candidates are identified by USMA is by congressional district but do not know for sure.

Principle nomination is first followed by competitive nomination.

Does every MOC spot get filled? Our MOC does not rank, however when we went to the FFR interview only 1 other candidate was interviewed, and they were not from our district, she was told she was competitive. I have not seen anyone from Missouri get an appointment, we have had no contact with the RC, except for an email encouraging her to keep working on her application. Just curious, the process is really so unknown, we come from a very rural area, most people don't realize what a big deal and process this has been; those who did were very discouraging about trying.

My daughter got a similar email about completing her application after her first congressional nomination came in. We also live in a rural area. The information I could find about our congressman was kind of dated but for the classes of 2009-2012, there was one year he did not submit any names for USMA and the most was 3 names. If your daughter is 3Q and you have a similar district, that would be in her favor.

Did you receive the letter yet? We have not received the BFE yet and the portal has not been updated. I was hoping she would get it today.

It won't be for prep. I don't think those even go out until May 16th. It would be for USMA. Congratulations to your DS!

DD's portal updated with offer as well...........out of the blue...........had no idea it was coming. I believe that KYparents DD got a call from the MOC, mine did not. I have seen it on the forum that it happens in pretty much anyway.

DD did get a call on Thursday, thankfully. A few less days of worrying and waiting. Quote from my DD about two hours after the call while she was still flying high from the news, "What am I going to worry about now?" LOL.
