Can an AFROTC cadet take Army ROTC classes?

I was going through my schedule next semester and noticed I have a lot of difficult classes which means I could use a GPA-booster class. I have multiple buddies from High School in the Army ROTC program at my school and they suggested that I take one of their Military Science classes with them with the idea being that I could hang out with them during class and "expand my view" by learning more about ground operations while providing myself with a good Plan B if I don't get a EA for Field Training this summer.

Scheduling, choosing service branches, and the whole issue of GPA-boosters aside, I'm curious if it even is allowed for cadets to take ROTC classes from another branch. How is this usually handled between the two departments?

According to the University of Iowa Army ROTC website, ROTC is open to any student who wants to take the course as an elective, or participate in leadership training while attending college. They take an ROTC class for which they receive credit. It's considered a college elective.

Check with your individual college's rules to be certain.

Edit:
The bigger issue for you is to be certain that the Army MIL-SCI course does not overlap with your AFROTC required curriculum, perhaps jeopardizing credit.

Thanks for the warning. It should count an elective, but I will be sure to double-check with my cadre.

At my school, we had one person actually do all four years of mil sci who wasn't in ROTC. He just wanted to get the minor for it. He went to all the classes just not lab. (Not AROTC but have many friends in it)
