Can DS challenge medical waiver denial?

DS was denied USAFA medical waiver due to hearing (one frequency, one ear) and asthma after age 13. I remember seeing somewhere that applicants were allowed to challenge a waiver denial, but I don't remember if that is accurate or applies to all academies. If he was denied due to the hearing, there is nothing else we can do. But if he was denied due to asthma - he could definitely do a methacholine challenge. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? He has a nomination and is a pretty good candidate, we think.
Thanks in advance.

There are others on this board that can probably give you some feedback but I'm just curious, in their communications to you about the waiver denial, did they indicate whether or not the decision was final? Did they offer you the opportunity to appeal or submit new information? I know in communications to our DS, they were always clear about what next steps were available to the candidate, if any.

Recommend posting this in the DoDMERB forum so @MullenLE can see it.

They listed both conditions (hearing, asthma,) but then said, "this condition is not waiverable." It then went on to say that if we had any other documents we felt should have been considered, we could submit them. So I guess that is our answer - if we have anything else to submit, we can do so. I think he (DS) really needs to figure out which condition was not waiverable. If it was the hearing, then we can't do much else, but if it was the "asthma," we could definitely do more testing. He was waived for both by MC NROTC, so at least his plan B is progressing.
